He is a world leader in the areas of psychoneurobiology, environmental toxicity, chronic infection, and family systems influences, and how these lead to chronic illness. He is known for his successful treatment of chronic illness and chronic pain. Dr Klinghardt has been a pioneer in treating patients with mercury toxicity for over 32 years with traditional and alternative medicine and has devised many protocols to assist in it's elimination using both natural and pharmaceutical chelation agents.
He developed Autonomic Response Testing, a comprehensive system which has helped to transform many practices in the U.S. and abroad into healing centers and helped many practitioners to become accomplished healers.
In recognition of his work, in May 2007 Dr Klinghardt won the prestigious award as “physician of the year” from the Global Foundation for his Integrative Medicine work, which is known through his teachings worldwide.
Dr, Klinghardt won the 2010 Physician's Excellence Award given to him by the Lyme Induced Autism Foundation in April 2010. The award is in recognition and gratitude for his incredible commitment and gift towards healing our children with autism and Lyme disease.
Medical genius/inconveniently outspoken/ lives in the global village back and forth between continents/resides in Bellevue, WA where he treats patients along with his two other clinics, one in Sussex and one in Germany
Dr. Klinghardt has contributed significantly to the understanding of metal toxicity and its connection with chronic infections, illness and pain. He is considered an authority on this subject and has been instrumental in advancing various fields within biological medicine. Due to his innovative contributions to Neural Therapy, Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Energy Medicine and Energy Psychology he is regularly invited to teach workshops at the prestigious "Medicine Week" in Baden-Baden, Germany.
Dr. Klinghardt was the pioneer who found mercury in his patients using Autonomic Response Testing. He was the first to collaborate with Doctor's Data Laboratory to put together a urine test for heavy metals released upon provocation.
Dr. Klinghardt's expertise in Neural Therapy and Bee Venom Therapy were his springboard into the treatment of lyme disease. Today, Dr Klinghardt has become an international authority on the treatment of Lyme disease and other chronic illnesses. Nothing is more appealing to Dr. Klinghardt then unresolved scientific mysteries or incurable diseases and the opportunity to tackle them down.
Dr. Klinghardt was born in Germany in 1947.
In his school years he found a way to feed his enormous curiosity through books and experiments and fortunately met a willing teacher, who introduced him to physics. In his own words to his peers - “When you were into drugs, sex and alcohol and “Make love not war’ I was in my teacher laboratory, studying the structures and laws of the universe -the why’s and how’s, having my first glimpses of how that manifests into the human body.. That was my “high” and I am still on it.”
Lucky for him, his physics teacher was none other but famous German physicist Hans Bethe – (who is Hans Bethe - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Bethe ) . Young Dietrich became an apprentice of Hans Bethe and would spend eternity in the White tower of knowledge.
This is where he would spend most of his life- researching and studying. For science and medicine he is never short of time and energy just as for his patients he is never short of compassion. Dr Klinghardt is famous for working full day hours and seeing homeless people or of low economic standard well into midnight.
He studied medicine and psychology in Freiburg, West Germany. After graduating, he conducted three years of research on the involvement of the autonomic nervous system in autoimmune disorders at the Albert-Ludwig University in Freiburg and earned his PhD. Several publications followed.
The following is his formal Biography and list of achievements:
* Facharzt fuer Allgemeinmedizin
* American Board of Pain Management
* American Board of Pain Management Specialties
* American board of Orthopedic and Neurological Medicine
* American Board of Neural Therapy
* PhD Thesis on the involvement of the autoimmune and collagen in vascular diseases
* Clinical research on the effects of heavy metal toxicity on the brain
* The 5 Levels of Healing: A Philosophical model and vision in healthcare--
While working in India as a junior physician, he laid the foundation for the 5‐level system of Integrative Medicine.
His teaching and philosophy include recent insights into the influence of the family system on one’s health through working with family systems oriented healing approaches..
Dr. Klinghardt is the author of a groundbreaking German book on biofeedback guided psychotherapy: “Psychokinesiology – A New Approach in Psychosomatic Medicine”
Dr Klinghardt has lectured at the universities of Illinois, Utah, Freiburg (Germany), Adelaide (Australia), and others, and the medical schools of Geneva and Zurich.
